Controversial Joke Lands Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina in Hot Water Amid Backlash, FIRs, and Industry Boycott

RANVEER Allahbadia and Samay Raina are facing severe backlash after a controversial “sex with parents” joke on India’s Got Latent went viral. The remark, condemned as “crass and offensive,” prompted YouTube India to remove the episode following government directives. FIRs and multiple complaints have been filed against both YouTubers, alongside show judges Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Makhija, and Jaspreet Singh.

Ranveer, also known as BeerBiceps, has lost over 8,000 followers and may face brand deal setbacks. Singer B Praak canceled his podcast appearance, slamming Ranveer for “spoiling Indian culture.” The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has called for a boycott, urging filmmakers and artists to cut ties with the duo.

Politicians, including Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, demanded strict action, referencing Ranveer’s past recognition by Prime Minister Modi. Influencer Gaurav Taneja and Thyrocare founder Dr. A Velumani also criticized the YouTubers, labeling the joke vulgar and indecent.

Ranveer publicly apologized, admitting comedy was not his strength and promising to improve. However, Samay, currently on a U.S. comedy tour, has yet to respond. Some voices, like the CAREERS 360 founder, defended the show, warning against excessive state intervention in creative content.
