Manohar Kore
SERIOUS irregularities in the functioning of pharmaceutical establishments in Thane district have come to light following information obtained under the Right to Information Act, 2005. Based on documentary evidence received from the Food & Drugs Administration (FDA), a detailed complaint was filed on December 18, 2025 before the Secretary, Medical Education Department, Joint Commissioner (Drugs), FDA Thane, and the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council.
The complaint has been filed by Dr. Vedprakash Tiwari, Advocate, Bombay High Court, against Anuja Nilesh Wani (Registered Pharmacist), Nilesh Kamalakar Wani and Manohar Sopan Kore.
Key Findings from RTI Documents (Received on December 16, 2025):
Anuja Nilesh Wani joined Jeevan Pharma as a Registered Pharmacist on 15/07/2023 and submitted a sworn self-declaration to FDA Zone-5, Thane stating that:
1-She was not working as a pharmacist anywhere else, and
2-She was working full-time from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
3-At the same time, RTI records confirm that she was already working as a Competent Person (CP) at Lokshahi Pharmacy (later renamed Brisben Pharma) since 01/09/2016, based on a similar sworn declaration submitted to FDA Zone-6, Thane.
This resulted in simultaneous statutory appointments at two different premises, which is illegal and prohibited under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, Pharmacy Act, and FDA norms.
Anuja Wani resigned from Jeevan Pharma on May 28, 2025 and from Brisben Pharma on October 24, 2025, only after complaints were raised, indicating deliberate concealment and guilty intent.
Role of Partners and Alleged Connivance
Nilesh Kamalakar Wani, partner in both firms and husband of Anuja Wani, was fully aware of the dual employment.
Manohar Sopan Kore, partner in Brisben Pharma and member of the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council, is accused of abetting this misconduct despite holding a position of regulatory responsibility.
Notably, Nilesh Wani is the Personal Assistant to Jagannath Shinde alias Appa and also holds the post of fame chief, Bharatiya Janata Party Chemist–Pharmacist Cell, Maharashtra. The complainant has demanded that political affiliations or influence must not be allowed to shield regulatory violations affecting public health.
Demand for Strict Action
The complaint seeks:
Cancellation of registration of Anuja Nilesh Wani.
Criminal and departmental action against all accused persons.
Disciplinary action against Manohar Kore as a Pharmacy Council member.
Accountability of FDA officials who failed to detect the violations.
“This is not a technical lapse but a case of sustained cheating of statutory authorities through false affidavits. Public health and regulatory integrity are directly affected,” said Dr. Vedprakash Tiwari.
The complainant has sought a time-bound inquiry and action taken report, emphasizing that RTI-based evidence leaves no scope for denial or dilution of responsibility.
